The Legacy of Charles "Curly" Eason: An Icon in the Entertainment Industry

In the annals of entertainment history, there are figures whose contributions transcend the screen, the stage, and the page. Among them stands Charles "Curly" Eason, a luminary whose journey from the streets of Philadelphia to the tranquil foothills of Mount Shasta, California, illuminates the power of passion, creativity, and unwavering dedication.

Born on August 28, 1939, Curly's formative years were steeped in the rich cultural tapestry of Philadelphia, where his inquisitive spirit ignited a lifelong fascination with electricity. His mother's futile attempts to safeguard the family home from his electrical experiments only fueled his thirst for knowledge, culminating in a mastery of the sine wave that would shape his future endeavors.

Graduating from West Philadelphia High School with a fervent desire to capture life's essence through the lens of a camera, Curly embarked on a journey into the heart of the motion picture industry. Joining the ranks of the Philadelphia local 8 Stagehand union, he honed his craft as a master electrician, infusing live presentations with an electrifying vibrancy that captivated audiences far and wide.

Yet, Curly's talents transcended the confines of the workplace, as he effortlessly harmonized his professional pursuits with a passion for music, photography, and literature. Gifted with a trumpet at a tender age by his father, he wove intricate melodies of classical jazz that echoed through the corridors of time.

From the grand theaters of Philadelphia to the bustling streets of San Francisco, Curly's indomitable spirit and infectious humor endeared him to all who crossed his path. As he navigated the dual worlds of cinematography and fatherhood, his son Thaddeus became his proudest achievement, embodying the legacy of resilience and determination passed down through generations.

In his twilight years, Curly retired to the serene enclave of Corte Madera, where he continued to share his boundless wisdom with the community, imparting the lessons of electricity to eager minds hungry for knowledge. Surrounded by loved ones, he embraced retirement as the "AGE of Discovery," a testament to a life lived with purpose, passion, and profound love.

Though Charles "Curly" Eason may have departed this world, his legacy endures as a beacon of inspiration for generations to come. As we honor his memory, we celebrate not only a brilliant African American pioneer but also a cherished ancestor whose spirit continues to illuminate the halls of the entertainment industry. In the tapestry of time, Curly's name shines bright, a testament to the enduring power of creativity, perseverance, and the human spirit.

Charles Curly Eason This was the age my Father took this photo of me and the magic was to try to understand the process of how my image could be put on piece of paper. This was the age and time that I, not only discovered the sensition(s) of Electricity to the extent that my Mother had to cover every electrical outlet in the house, but I discovered how to uncover the outlets and learned which fuses controlled which part of the house. This was the time and age I became fascinated with the sine wave on the oscilloscope in the cellar. And this was the age and time my Father took me to a music store for a new shiny trumpet. Ah, the age of discovery....
